Annie and Michael's Wedding in Crieff, Scotland

Annie and Michael’s wedding took place on a brisk winter’s day in Crieff, Scotland. It was a wedding I’d been looking forward to ever since they’d booked at Christmas time the previous year – not only was it taking place in a gorgeous location, it was set to be a beautiful day.

The day began with Annie and her girls getting ready in one of the cabins in the grounds of the hotel, accompanied by hair stylist Gillian from Pin Up Hair Glasgow and makeup artist Sarah Jane Macinnes – and Nala the dog of course. After photographing the bride tribe getting ready and Annie’s stunning accessories and Maggie Sottero gown, I made my way to Michael and the boys to capture their finishing touches.

Before long, it was time for a first look with Annie’s father and Michael, and then I made my way down to the hotel and into the majestic drawing room. The ceremony was intimate and emotional, officiated by a close family friend of Annie’s. After exchanging rings and saying their vows, the couple and their guests made their way into the whiskey bar for drinks and canapés. Family portraits took place in the drawing room, before we headed outside for some photos in the slowly setting winter sunlight.

Back inside, the drawing room had been turned around for their sit-down meal. Once their guests were seated, Annie and Michael were reintroduced, and then it was time for speeches and food. The second half of their day took place in the larger Melville Hall, which had been decorated with a stunning starlight wall, whilst the tables were adorned with candelabras. Annie and Michael cut their cake and then took to the floor for their first dance. It was a beautiful moment, punctuated only by the huge confetti canons that exploded streamers throughout the room.

Their guests joined them on the floor for the ceilidh band, and soon the room was full of dancing and laughter. After dancing to Loch Lomond surrounded by their loved ones, the final act of the night was to embrace the cold for some stunning sparkler photos outside.

Annie and Michael’s wedding was absolutely gorgeous, and I had such an amazing time with this wonderful couple. Organised to perfection, the day was filled with emotional moments, love and laughter. Congratulations, Annie and Michael!

As I was in Scotland for Annie and Michael’s wedding, I stayed at the hotel and spent a few days wandering around the grounds with my 35mm camera, capturing the gorgeous landscapes as well as some self-portraits. For their wedding, I used my Canon AE-1 and Kodak Gold film, and also continued my experimentation with off-camera flash.
