Best Of 2021: Weddings and Photoshoots
Wow - what a year 2021 has been. The start of the year, for me, was almost a continuation of 2020, full of uncertainty and anxiety about the shape of things to come. But, as the winter months turned to spring, as the sun came out and the flowers bloomed, so too did the world.
Weddings were finally given permission to go ahead as of March/April, albeit with restrictions on the number of guests - first 15, then 30. That limitation gradually, throughout the year, grew looser and looser until, finally, I was photographing a 150-person wedding in the middle of summer, trying to herd guests for group photos as they enjoyed a glass of Pimm’s in the sunshine.
I always knew that 2021 was going to be busy due to the number of postponements and bookings I had. What I didn’t anticipate, however, was the number of last-minute queries I would receive once restrictions were eased! People were so eager to get married this year and it ended up being my busiest ever with 34 weddings, 13 engagement & family sessions, and 5 events & photoshoots. I edited more than 18,500 photos this year!
I shot some amazing weddings this year - not just those that visually stunned, but also those that were beautiful in the intimacy and love; in the laughter and joy. To all those that trusted me to capture their day and celebrate alongside their loved ones, thank you so much. It has been a fantastic year filled with new experiences and some of the most wonderful people I’ve ever been lucky enough to meet.
