Emma and Jack's Wedding at Godwick Great Barn, Norfolk

After two months off, Emma and Jack’s wedding was my first wedding of the season, and – as you can imagine – I couldn’t wait to get started. Their day began at Godwick Hall, where everyone was getting ready for the day ahead. As the bridesmaids changed into their green dresses, hair styling and makeup artistry was provided by Amanda and Nikki from Amanda Steed Makeup. It wasn’t long before Emma was in her beautiful  Olivia Bottega gown, and then it was time to make our way down the (very windy) road to Godwick Great Barn.

The barn had been decorated meticulously by The Little Lending Company and Floral Sistas, with incredible flower displays throughout and the most stunning handwritten signage. At the end of the aisle was a gorgeous floral arch, beneath which Emma and Jack (and little Elliot) stood to say “I do”. After some emotional vows and an exchange of rings, the two were officially married – and it was time to celebrate.

Confetti was followed by a few group photos, and then I took the couple off to the nearby ruins for some lovely just-married portraits. The windy, rainy weather only added to the atmosphere of the photos, but before long we were back inside in the warmth for their wedding breakfast and speeches. By the time the cake was cut, the weather had warmed up and the sun was beginning to set, so we headed outside for a few more portraits.

The first dance took place shortly afterwards, with the couple’s nearest and dearest watching from the sidelines. A full playlist of 90s and 00s classics followed, and soon the dance floor was absolutely full. My final task was to get everybody outside for a round of sparklers, which resulted in one of my favourite photos of the day – and then it was time for me to head home.

Emma & Jack’s wedding was emotional, personal and simply stunning. There was so much love in the air and it was clear to see that these two are not only meant for each other, but are loved and supported by everybody around them. It was a beautiful kick-off to the wedding season, and I’m so pleased I was able to play a small part in their celebrations.

Congratulations Emma & Jack!

35mm film photos:

Continuing on from my 35mm film work from last year, I shot a roll of Portra 400 film at Emma & Jack’s wedding. Although the weather and lighting conditions were a bit tricky, particularly inside the barn, I’m super happy with the results! Take a look:
